Everybody knows how difficult things can be in the winter. Road conditions worsen and the temperatures dip below freezing. The lower the temperatures get; the harder things get for us and our cars. There are a lot of things people do to stay safe in the winter.

We are all well-aware of the dangers that snow and ice can bring. People know how to handle these hazardous conditions, but some people make it tougher on themselves than need be. There are plenty of people who make it harder on themselves than need be. If you go off-roading, then you might think that your tires are fine. Are off-road tires OK in the winter though?

Do All-Terrain Tires Work in Winter?

Most people who are serious about going off-road usually invest in specialty tires. There are plenty of all-terrain and off-road tire sets that can give you better performance out in the rougher terrain. These tires usually do fine on the road under normal circumstances, but snow and ice are far from normal conditions.

So, how do all-terrain tires hold up? The short answer is that they don’t hold up very well. You need to be careful when you’re selecting tires for your vehicle. If you want them to be all-terrain and all-season tires, then you need to look for a snowflake or three-peak mountain symbol. This symbol means the tires are rated to be reliable in the snow. They won’t be the best set of tires for these conditions, but it will save you the time and effort of getting a new set of tires for winter.
