Nothing says “great family SUV” like comfort, space, style, and versatility. These are four things the 2024 Toyota Highlander has an abundance of. There are lots of features to explore when you see it at your local Toyota dealer, so let’s get to know it better.

Strong Engine

The Highlander feels really powerful to drive no matter which engine you choose. The base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine. Pumping out 265 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque, there’s plenty of power to propel the large, spacious SUV wherever you need to go. Every other engine available for the Highlander has plenty of strength, too. You’re sure to be very pleased with the vehicle’s performance no matter which trim you choose.

Drive Modes

The Highlander has multiple drive modes you can choose from to tailor your vehicle’s performance to your situation. There are different drive modes available depending on the trim. The base trim, for example, has Sport, Normal, Eco and Snow modes. The Hybrid LE has Sport, Eco, Normal, and EV modes.

Some models have a Trail mode, and others have Multi-Terrain Select. MTS has modes to take on rocks, dirt, mud, and sand. If you anticipate driving on difficult terrain, then it’s definitely worth considering a model with Multi-Terrain Select.

Noteworthy Towing Capacity

If you have some modest towing needs, then the Highlander should have no problem taking on the job. The vehicle’s maximum towing capacity varies depending on the trim. For example, the base model can take on up to 5,000 pounds, while the Hybrid LE can haul up to 3,500 pounds. Both of these towing capacities are high enough to haul out some gear for recreational activities.

Spacious Cabin

All of your passengers have plenty of personal space inside the Highlander. There are 141.8 cubic feet of space for passengers in models without a moon roof. There’s also a lot of room for cargo in the cabin. Behind the third row, you’ve got 16 cubic feet of room for your luggage. Folding down the second row gives you 48.4 cubic feet of space. If you fold down the second row too, then you’ve got 84.3 cubic feet of space to fill up.
