What is Under the Hood of the 2022 Toyota Tundra?
The 2022 Toyota Tundra is powered by a 3.5-liter Twin-Turbo V6 engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine comes in three potencies. The nonhybrid engine makes 348 horsepower and 405 foot-pounds of torque in the base SR trim. In the other trims, it generates 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid version of the vehicle features an electric motor integrated into the transmission, which enables purely electric driving at low speeds. The combination produces a combined 437 horses and 583 pound-feet of torque. Additionally, the rear suspension is changed; instead of a leaf-spring setup, the 2022 Tundra utilizes a more refined coil-spring rear suspension that substantially improves ride and handling characteristics.
Toyota still offers the TRD Off-Road and TRD Sport packages. The former comes with an off-road suspension, skid plates, and unique wheels. The latter gets lowered suspension and 20-inch wheels. Drivers seeking maximum off-road capabilities should opt for the TRD Pro, which features a lifted suspension, exclusive dampers, and a unique set of black 18-inch wheels mounted on its all-terrain tires.
